HOT: The Party Girls, 2/505 Lytton Rd, Morningside

Everyone knows planning a wedding is an exercise in stress, anxiety and most importantly spending obscene amounts of money.  As a clueless bride-to-be, with minimal creativity when it comes to decorating and theming, I was so pleased to stumble across wedding and venue design specialists, The Party Girls.  Not only were they the most cost-effective option around town, they were personable, helpful and did a smashing job of decorating the venue for my wedding earlier this year.

I’m not one of those girls who had her wedding planned from age 12.  In fact, if I had to do it all over again, I still don’t think I’d know what I wanted!  Once we picked the venue, someone asked how we were going to “theme” our big day.  I did not in fact know that “theming” was something that should be on my to-do list for the wedding!  I mean, who knew that people went to so much trouble – you can get married in vintage costume with matching back drops and furniture?  You can even go wild-west it if you want to!

I did some Google searches in the months leading up to my big day to understand exactly what wedding theming involved and soon found out that to decorate the venue with pretty fairy lights, swagging, backdrops, candles and furniture etc that it was going to be in the order of thousands of dollars.  The bit that really hurt was installation costs of over $400, but I can see how they get away with it; I mean, who’s going to spend the morning of their wedding decorating the venue, right?

I kept searching the pages of the internet until I stumbled across The Party Girls.  Their website seemed to cater for everything I was looking for (now that I actually had some idea of what I wanted!) and were so helpful on the phone when I rang to enquire about how to best engage them.  I had a one hour meeting with the Manager who took thorough notes on my ideas and requirements, plus all the other little intricate details of my big day.  Three days later I had a personalized and itemized quote sent in the mail.

Each item was listed with the quantities and prices, and was totally flexible so I could change, add or subtract items.  There were no minimum quantities that I had to order or prices per head (believe it or not, some companies charge a decorating fee per head of guests attending – the nerve!).  Best of all, their installation costs were well under $100 and it was clear that they weren’t in the business of ripping people off and I was confident they could do the job well.

As I walked down the aisle on my big day, I was so excited to see how the venue had been decorated.  The table decorations, centre pieces, chairs and drapery were stunning.  The fairy lights were subtle yet effective and the lolly bar was amazing.  I couldn’t have asked for it to be any other way, and I certainly couldn’t have done it better myself.

All night, people were ogling over the centre pieces and commenting on how lovely it all looked.  I felt like a princess and my castle was indeed the fairest in all the land.  The $1200 it cost me to have the venue decorated was worth every cent, and they returned the next day to dismantle at no extra cost.  If you have a wedding or event that requires decorating or theming, I can’t stress enough how pleased you’ll be with The Party Girls.
